Powerful productions – that’s what we make at Theatre B.

What began as an absence, a yearning for thought-provoking stories and innovative theatricality has blossomed into the region’s only small professional theatre company. And like any garden, creativity needs fertile soil and fresh energy. This community provided lush ground, artists planted productive seeds, and the yearning for powerful new theatrical work is being met. Theatre B now has an opportunity to imagine how the company will serve future needs.

Transitions – like gardens – take time, especially a founder transition. It has been my honor to tend this garden for the last twenty years, but it is time for new ideas and inspiration. I have agreed to stay on while the search for a new Executive Director proceeds this season. In the meantime, the Board is codifying policy guidance, and a consultant is facilitating Ensemble conversations, as the artists imagine a sustainable future. We are all working together to help smooth the transition, strengthen the Ensemble, develop the Board, and support a new Executive Director.

The pillars of our organization that will not change: thought-provoking stories, intimate gatherings, community conversation, and grateful stewardship of our relationships and resources. We hope our stakeholders – audiences, artists, funders, and partners – will remain engaged and help seize the opportunities for improvement and collaboration that will arise from new ideas and fresh energy.

And we encourage you to see every play at least once!  Our 20^th season has something for everyone – a lighthearted lesson from the Almighty, witty repartee concerning artistic license, and quiet contemplation contrasted with unmistakable body language. I am proud of the work we have done so far at Theatre B and excited for a bright future where exceptional artists thrive and powerful new stories abound.
