Well folks, we made it to opening!  Between tech, dress rehearsals, and my day job, there hasn’t been much time for blogging.  My apologies.

Tech, for me, is what REALLY starts to make the show feel real.  Cast and crew spend the entire day together adding in all of the technical elements of the show – throwing in light cues, sound cues, figuring out quick changes and scene shifts – it all comes together.

Tech is the time for the stage manager to rehearse.  Whereas the actors have 6-8 weeks to rehearse, the stage manager only gets about 6-8 hours.  Crazy, right?  I love it.

Tech leads into a week of dress rehearsals and straight into opening.  One unique aspect of this time is that the reigns of the show are transferred from the director to the stage manager.  Now that the show has opened, I’m really steering the ship now, making sure everything stays on track, the way the director intended.

So far, so good!
