If you watched the closing ceremonies of the London Olympics, you saw a lot of really great British musicians showcasing some of the talent that has come out of that country.
You may have also noticed that Eric Idle’s performance of “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life” from the musical Spamalot seemed to get the biggest reaction and interaction with audience and Olympians alike. It seemed like everyone that was featured on the live stream was singing along, or whistling along, or swaying with familiarity to the music.
There is an element of theatre that really speaks to people. It is inherently humane — stories about people, and experiences, and relationships that are designed to speak to anybody. And everybody.
Even a show that is as goofy and satirical as Spamalot can speak to the world.
