Seven ensemble members of Theatre B who participated in the 61 for 61 5K
I was less than a week into rehearsals directing Next Fall, Theatre B’s 9th season opener, when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. The positivity and support from the cast and company made the journey so much easier. They wore pink ribbon pins during the rehearsal process and kept my spirits up with their love and humor.
Now Matt, another ensemble member, is waging his second battle with cancer and the company is once again rallying ’round. The ensemble organized a team to participate in the 61 for 61 fundraiser for the Roger Maris Cancer Center September 29 and I knew I had to join in! B fielded a team of 7 runners and walkers to show their support and raise money to help find a cure. We had a wonderful time and sent positive energy and healing thoughts Matt’s way from all along the course.
Theatre B isn’t only about what happens on stage; B is also about intentional family. The notion that you get to choose who you want your family to be is woven into the tapestry of the company. I feel like the luckiest duck in town to have B for my family!
